Whatsapp on Friday sent out a new feature in a Beta update that will enable iOS, Android and Windows Phone users change their number and get back all their data of previous number without any inconvenience.
The new ‘Change Number’ feature is now available in the 2.18.97 Android Beta update on Google Play Store. It will roll out for iOS and Windows users soon.
The new update adds a lot of improvements. Users will now be able to select specific contacts to notify, and the chat history will be shifted in the new chat tab on the user’s phone.

Change Number feature will enable:-
1 To change the phone number, the user will have to choose ‘Change Number’ option in Whatsapp Settings under the Account section.
2 A notification will pop-up asking which contacts to be notified about the change in number, after the user successfully changes the number.
3 All shared messaged in the old chat will get transferred in the new chat box with a new bubble, symbolising the new number of the user.
With nearly 1.5 billion monthly active users (MAUs) who are exchanging about 60 billion messages daily, Whatsapp is the largest messaging application in the world.
Whatsapp has over 200 million users in India.
