WhatsApp has announced the launch of two new features - the much-awaited picture-in-picture support and ability to set new texts as status messages on the app. These features will be available on both Android and iPhone smartphones.
The first feature, called picture-in-picture, allows users to resize the video calling window and move it around should they want to also text a friend or do something else.
Further, the second feature offers WhatsApp users the ability to write text-only updates as your WhatsApp status. Previously, users could only be allowed to put their pictures and video as status updates.
These text-only statuses have just up to 24 hours of visibility. Reports, moreover, claim that WhatsApp is working on bringing support for UPI payments in India, a major functionality in the wake of the country's recent interest in digital payments.
