After getting a thumping response for its ‘status’ feature, WhatsApp has now rolled out the feature for the desktop version too. According to reports, after working extensively on the feature for approximately three months, the company has finally launched the ‘status’ feature under WhatsApp Web update version 0.2.5854.

In its latest update, the WhatsApp Web users will now be able to see a circular icon placed at the top of their ‘Display Pic’ (DP). By clicking on it, users will be re-directed to a new screen, where they can check the status of their contacts and update their too. The feature will work the same way as it works on the mobile phones.

The users can share photos, GIFs, videos everything in the same way as they share on their mobile phones. The status will disappear after 24 hours.

Earlier, WhatsApp had tested the colourful texts status like those of Facebook for its Status tab. The new feature which has been spotted in WhatsApp beta version 2.17.291, will allow the users of the app to write status updates just like Facebook. The status updates can be written with a colourful background, emoji and font combination. It was last year in December, when Facebook rolled out its coloured text status feature.

It has been reported that the users who have enrolled themselves with WhatsApp’s official Play Store beta program will be able to get early access to the new feature than others.  Reports also suggest that this is a server-side test and the new feature won’t be available for all the users of the app, even when they have the latest version.
