WhatsApp tests Facebook like colourful text status, to add new colour to your status

There’s some exciting news for the user of WhatsApp. The messenger app is testing the colourful texts status like those of Facebook for its Status tab. The new feature which has been spotted in WhatsApp beta version 2.17.291, will allow the users of the app to write status updates just like Facebook. The status updates can be written with a colourful background, emoji and font combination. It was last year in December, when Facebook rolled out its coloured text status feature.

It has been reported that the users who have enrolled themselves with WhatsApp’s official Play Store beta program will be able to get early access to the new feature than others.  Reports also suggest that this is a server-side test and the new feature won’t be available for all the users of the app, even when they have the latest version.

The new feature will provide the users with a floating pencil button in the status tab, just above the camera icon. Users will be able to design their coloured text status by clicking on the pencil icon. Three options of adding emoji, selecting font and changing background colour will come out. They will have to hit the green arrow icon, which will be at the bottom right, to publish their status.

As a matter of fact, WhatsApp which is owned by Facebook, has over one billion active users on its app. In India, the messenger app has more than 200 million users.
