WhatsApp group admins will be on cloud nine as the Facebook-owned instant messaging service is all set to introduce yet another new feature to its mobile app which will allow administrators to restrict group members from sending text messages or sharing pictures, videos, documents, GIFs and all.

According to WABetaInfo, the messaging platform has submitted the 'Restricted Groups' setting via Google Play Beta programme in the version 2.17.430.

"WhatsApp will prevent the group creator to be deleted from the group by other administrators. This will help the group creator to have the full control of the group.· The administrators will be able to choose if other participants can modify the subject of the group, its icon and its description," WABetaInfo wrote.

WABetaInfo is a reliable source to get significant updates regarding the forthcoming features of WhatsApp.

Reports suggest that, the new feature will allow admins of a particular group to activate the 'Restricted Groups' setting and once activated other members will only be able to read admin's message.

However, members are free to use 'Message Admin' button and send messages to the administrator of the group. The admin will finally decide whether he or she should make the message visible to everyone or delete it immediately.

"A group can be restricted once every 72 hours but thanks to the 2.17.430 beta, we discovered that WhatsApp will be finally able to change this value from the server," WABetaInfo added further.

Though the brand new feature is at present supported by Android and iOS beta, WhatsApp has disabled it on its servers.

Interestingly, WhatsApp's latest update for iPhone allows users to watch YouTube videos in picture-in-picture mode so that they can move from one chat to another while watching the video.

Apart from these, the instant messaging service has introduced a slew of features like 'Delete for Everyone', 'live location', colourful emoticons and will be making a big splash in the coming months with another app built exclusively for businesses.
