Gadget freaks have all the reasons to feel on top of the world as Xiaomi, the Chinese electronics and software company is all set to add a pair of high-end smartphones to its Redmi series yet again.

The smartphone maker on Wednesday has officially confirmed the launch date of Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus via a poster on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo.  According to the poster both the device will hit the Chinese market on December 7.

Meanwhile, ahead of their release both Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus have been subjected to several leaks and rumours which suggests that both the handsets are set to sport minimal bezels with an 18:9 aspect ratio. A new render of the Redmi 5 also seems to confirm the same.

The latest leaked images showcase an 18:9 touchscreen for the device. Moreover, Redmi 5 is expected to come up in gold color with a single camera setup at the back, and below the rear camera which sits the fingerprint print.

Going by the rumours, the upcoming Redmi 5 looks pretty much similar Redmi 4. Alongside the image, some key specifications of the attractive device are also out now.

Tech savvies who are waiting eagerly to grab anyone of these latest devices may go through the expected to features and specifications mentioned above.

Redmi 5 specifications and features:

The leak suggests that the Redmi 5 will come with a 5.7-inch display with HD+ resolution. This means that the phone may come with a resolution of 1440x720 pixels. Apart from the improved display, Redmi 5 may see a major improvement on both hardware and software front as well.

Redmi 4 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor, however, that may not be the case with the Redmi 5. The leak suggests that the Redmi 5 will come with a much better processor -- Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset is expected. Redmi 5 is also tipped to come in only one variant -- with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There are no words on if the storage can be expanded with a microSD card or not. On the software front, the Redmi 5, for now, is tipped to come with Android 7.1 Nougat. But chances are also likely for the phone to run on the latest software Oreo.

Redmi 5 may come with an improved hardware, software, and design. But, surprisingly, the camera department may not see much difference compared to the Redmi 4. The leak suggests that the Redmi 5 will come with a 12-megapixel sensor at the back, while on the front the phone will come with a 5-megapixel camera setup. The battery setup may also drop a bit than the Redmi 4. The Redmi 5 is expected to be backed by a 3,300 mAh battery.

Redmi 5 Plus specifications and features:

Renders of Redmi 5 Plus has also been leaked previously. Going by the images, it seems the smartphone will come with Snapdragon 625 or 630 SoC, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with microSD card support for expandability. According to past rumours, the handset could sport a 5.9-inch FHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. On the camera department, the phone is expected to come with dual cameras at the back which will most likely comprise of a 16-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor. The Plus-sized handset could sport a large 4000mAh battery.

Moreover, another brand new Redmi phone namely 'Desh Ka Smartphone' is all set to be launched on November 30. The ultra affordable smartphone will be available exclusively on Flipkart and is expected to cost under Rs 10,000.
