The battle between budget smartphones has reached new heights with the launch of Micromax’s Bharat 5 and Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A, ‘Desh ka Smartphone’.
On Friday, Indian manufacturer Micromax launched its budget Smartphone Micromax Bharat 5 at a price of Rs 5,555 which puts it directly and squarely in a battle with Xiaomi’s ‘Desh ka smartphone’ which is priced at Rs 4,999 and will be available at Rs 3,999 for the first five million customers.
Here is a comparison between the two budget smartphones.
Display: The Redmi 5A comes with a standard 5-inch display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Bharat 5 with its 5.2-inch display with HD resolution scores higher than the Redmi 5A.
RAM: A 1 GB DDR 3 RAM features Micromax Bharat 5 which is similar to erstwhile Bharat 4, whereas Xiaomi fans can avail Redmi 5A in two variants with 2 GB and 3 GB RAM.
Storage: With an internal storage of 16 GB Bharat 5 definitely scores below Redmi 5A which is offering internal storage of 16 GB and 32 GB respectively.
Processor: The Bharat 5 is powered by Mediatek’s 64-Bit 1.3GHz Quad Core Processor that not only delivers lightning fast performance but also optimizes power consumption and saves up to 30% power.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A features the MIUI 9 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor that ensures easy handling of daily tasks such as video playback, gaming sessions, and much more.
Camera: The Bharat 5 sports 5 MP selfie camera with a 1.4um big pixel size for joyful selfies.
Compared to the above, Desh Ka Smartphone Redmi 5A sports a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera is definitely a game changer in this price segment and scores.
Operating system: Both the budget phones feature Android 7 Nougat.
Availability: The Micromax Bharat 5 will be available only at offline retail stores whereas Xiami Redmi 5A will be available at e-commerce portal Flipkart.
Battery: If Micromax has beaten Xiaomi in a straight competition it is the battery. With a 5000 mAh powerhouse, Bharat 5 has stolen the competition from Desh Ka Smartphone that embeds a 3000 mAh battery.
Where Micromax has collaborated with Vodafone the Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi’s partnership with Reliance Jio has emerged as a win-win situation for both.
The first five million customers of Redmi 5A will get Rs 1000 cashback in the form of 10, Rs 100 vouchers. Customers will get 28 GB of data with a cap of 1GB a day.
