Government seeks public opinion on allocation of backhaul spectrum without auction

In yet another unprecedented move, the government of India has sought public opinion on the allocation of the 'backhaul' spectrum bands without auction across the country. Earlier, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) gave its recommendation for the non-auction route and asserted that it will help enhance mobile phone signal reducing call drops and improving voice and data quality. The Telecom Commission (TC), the highest-decision making body of the Telecom Department, met earlier on April 28 to decide on the allocation of spectrum in V-band and E-bands. Watch News Nation special coverage to know more details regarding this latest development on spectrum allocation.
