17 dead after consuming spurious liquor in Assam's Golaghat

At least 17 people were dead after allegedly consuming illicit liquor at Golaghat in Assam. Dr Dileep Rajvanshi of government hospital said, "Initial diagnosis suggests alcohol poisoning. As many as four people were brought dead last night and later 12 more people died. A total of 17 people have died. A post-mortem examination is yet to be done and the exact cause will be ascertained after the reports are out." This comes a few weeks after 84 people lost their lives after consuming spurious liquor in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
