Cow Vigilantism: SC asks center to consider new law on mob lynching

The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the states to act against people indulging in "horrendous acts of mobocracy" in the name of cow protection. A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said "No citizen can take law into their own hands. In case of fear and anarchy, the state has to act positively. Violence can't be allowed". He also asked Parliament to bring in a new law on mob lynching to punish the offenders.
