Jayendra Saraswathi last rites: Final rituals for burying mortal remains begin at Kanchi Kamakoti mutt

Thousands of people gathered at Kanchipuram’s Kanchi Kamakoti mutt to bid adieu to Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi, who breathed his last due to a massive cardiac arrest on Wednesday. He was a social reformer and known for his efforts for resolution of the vexed Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. He died at a hospital at the age of 82. The final rituals for burying the mortal remains, called 'Brindhavana Pravesam,' began with an 'Abishekam' or bath. Milk and honey were the ingredients used in the 'Abishekam'.
