Republic Day 2018: President Ram Nath Kovind awards Ashok Chakra to martyr's family

President Ram Nath Kovind presented Ashok Chakra, India's highest peacetime military decoration, to IAF Garud commando Corporal Jyoti Prakash Nirala's wife and mother. Nirala gunned down two terrorists in the Bandipora encounter in the Kashmir valley. The brave soldier succumbed to the gunshot wounds fired by the terrorists.
