Sabarimala: Women stopped as protests turn violent

Security has been tightened all across Kerala and police arrested 30 people who were protesting against women's entry into the Lord Ayyappa Temple in Sabarimala which is set to open its door to women to perform monthly puja at 5 pm on Wednesday. The temple will open for the first time since the Supreme Court's landmark judgment allowing women of all age group to enter the shrine. The top court's verdict hasn't gone down well with many devotees mostly women. They checked cars and buses, pulled out women and asked them to go back. Nilakkal and Erumeli, the two base camps for the Sabarimala pilgrimage, are located at the foothill.
