Sonia tries to rope-in non-NDA parties

Ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament, Congress President Sonia Gandhi hosted an Iftar party in an attempt to muster opposition unity. All secular, non-National Democratic Alliance parties have been invited for the dinner on Monday night. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Raj Babbar, Meem Afzal, Salman Khurshid, Anand Sharma and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit were also seen at the party along with many others. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was also at the party, however, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was missing, who is reportedly hosting his own Iftaar party at Patna.
