Iran has unfurled a red flag on top of the iconic The Holy Dome of Jamkaran Mosque in Qom, which is an old Shi’ite tradition symbolising bloody revenge. This comes a day after Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ elite Quds Force head General Qasem Soleimani was killed by US in Iraq’s Baghdad. It is the first time in history that the red flag has been hoisted on top of the Jamkaran mosque in the Iranian city and comes after warnings of harsh retaliation against the US.
