Video of baby elephant trying to wake dead mother up will leave you in tears

A heart-wrenching video, showing a baby elephant trying to wake up his dead mother, has gone viral. In the video, baby elephant is seen prodding its mother with its trunk in an attempt to wake her up. The sight will melt one’s heart. A 25-year old female elephant was roaming along with its 2-year-old baby elephant near Kavadiammal temple in Pallam where it fell down and died on the spot.

On seeing this, the baby elephant became restless due to intense distress. It started nudging its mother with its trunk and chased whosoever came near its mother. The baby was desperately trying to wake her up.

Despite the forest department’s efforts to separate the baby from its mother, the baby jumbo stuck close to its mother. Speaking about this emotional scene the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) said that this was quite common and they were finally successful in separating the baby from its mother.

The vetinary doctor said that the cause of death of 25-year old female elephant was due to internal bleeding. Generally, elephants are very sensitive in nature, highly social and intelligent animals.
