A Pakistan group Karachi Vynz's parody of a popular Indian Marathi folk song "Sonu Tuza Mazayavar Bharosa Nahi Kay" to depict the current political chaos in Pakistan has gone viral. The group has made the Urdu version of the original song, which talks about former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's resignation, who had quit as Pakistan PM after the Supreme Court disqualified him as it found him guilty in the Panama Paper Case.
The 58-second song also applauds opposition politician Imran Khan for pursuing corruption charges against Sharif. The video by Karachi Vynz official has received millions of views on youtube. The lyrics of the song say "Immu hame aap pe bharosa sahi thaa" which means that "we were right to trust you Immu". Here Immu refers to Imran Khan, the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team and now president of the political party Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI).
"We aim to make people happy". The group describes themselves as freelance comedians who want to make videos that go viral. “We keep a tab on what is happening on social media to get something exciting. We then play with it to make funny, interesting and amusing content for our viewers,” band founder Mansoor Qureshi told the BBC.
The song is inspired by the Marathi folk song Sonu which has gone viral in various local Indian languages. In one version, a popular radio presenter used the song to highlight the problem of Mumbai's potholed roads.
