Have you ever seen a currency note with Netaji Subash Chandra Bose's image and not Mahatma Gandhi's? A currency note issued by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's Bank of Independence had just that. Issued probably in pre-independence era, the ten rupees note with Netaji's image is now going viral on Social Media.
According to Azad Hind bank, the notes had not only Mahatma Gandhiji's image but Netaji's image as well. The image of viral note has a series of flags of the Azad Hind Fauj over a bold inscription saying “Bank of Independence” with “good wishes” inscribed at the bottom.
There were volunteers from several countries who were involved in the Azad Hind Fauj.
According to the Newsnation's investigation, there were no notes issued by Azad Hind, and if it were ever issued it could have had been used only in Andaman and Nicobar.
But currency notes that were issued by Azad Hind which had Mahatma Gandhi's, Netaji's and Lakshmi Sehgal had no value in the country. So the rumours about Jawaharlal Nehru banning notes which had Netaji's Image can not be true.
