Taiwan accuses China of endangering aviation safety with illegal flight corridor

Taipei [Taiwan], July 8 (ANI): Taiwan plan to ak it diplomatic partner and friendly nation to bring up China unilateral launch of the W121 flight path at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) aembly thi September, amid riing tenion, Focu Taiwan reported.
According to Focu Taiwan, China announced on Sunday the opening of the northwet-to-outheat W121 route, linking Donghan in Zhejiang Province to the M503 flight path in the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan Mainland Affair Council (MAC) immediately criticized the move a provocative, warning it undermine aviation afety and regional tability.
Taiwan Civil Aviation Adminitration echoed MAC concern, decribing the deciion a regrettable and vowing to monitor the ituation to enure flight afety. The agency treed that China failure to coordinate with Taiwan on uch a ignificant adjutment violate ICAO tandard, which mandate prior conultation with affected partie.
A per Taipei Time, thi i not the firt time China ha acted unilaterally, citing previou route launche like W122 and W123, which were introduced alongide the eatward hift of the M503 in early 2024. Countrie including the United State, Canada, Japan, Sweden, and the Netherland had previouly expreed concern over imilar action by Beijing.
Focu Taiwan noted that Taiwan will again leverage the upcoming 42nd ICAO Aembly in Montreal to challenge Beijing action and pre for greater incluion in international aviation forum.
Depite protet, W122 and W123 remain active, undercoring that diplomatic preure alone may not be enough to compel Beijing to comply with ICAO norm.
Taiwan, which lat attended an ICAO aembly in 2013, remain excluded due to preure from Beijing. The government reiterated it call to be included in ICAO to help afeguard global aviation afety.
