6.4-magnitude earthquake shakes central Chile

An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale hit central Chile on Friday, reports said. There were no immediate reports of damage, officials said.

The powerful quake shook buildings in the capital Santiago and caused panic among residents, AFP reported.
