A 65-year-old man marries 12-year-old girl in social experiment

Even in the 21^st century, child marriage remains a bane to the world. Not only in underdeveloped countries but it is practiced in more of a clandestine manner in different parts of the world. Sometimes it is highlighted but others time not even get reported.

The legal age of marriage differs around the world. In some US states the age is as low as 12 for girls and 14 for boys. In the UK it is 16. The age is ten in Sudan under certain religions. Recently, in a social experiment, a 65-year-old man posed for the wedding pictures in different parts of New York and Times Square.

This was orchestrated by YouTuber Coby Persin to raise awareness on the issue of child marriage. The whole video illustrates how the the old man poses freely with his 12-year-old bride. It’s a global issue which destroys the lives of 33,000 girls every day.

“New Yorkers didn't stand for a child getting married to an older man, and neither should anywhere else in the world be ok with it!” the 21-year-old YouTube star writes

People with different reactions responded to the sight. Some infuriated, agitated, crossed people even rebuked the man and even called him a pervert while there were others also who played silent spectators.
