A suicide attack in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on a convoy of military vehicles belonging to the NATO-led resolute mission on Wednesday morning killed 8 people while wounding 22 others, said Afghan officials.
The attack which took place near the US embassy, hit a group of armored personnel carriers designed to withstand large explosions. Various civilian vehicles were also destroyed in the blast.
Witnesses said that the heavily armored MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicles that coalition forces use to travel in Kabul appeared to have suffered only minor external damage, witnesses said.
No group has taken responsibility for the deadly attack but the Taliban have increased attacks across Afghanistan since spring began.
