A series of explosions hit Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Wednesday, said Hasmatullah Stanikzai, spokesperson, Kabul police.
According to the initial reports, the first blast occurred in Dasht-e-Barchi area in Kabul’s PD13 Police Headquarters. A plume of smoke was seen rising above the police headquarters' building.
“Heavy clashes were ongoing between the security forces and gunmen close to the PD13 Police Headquarters,” Tolo news quoted Kabul police as saying.
The security forces surrounded the area and all roads leading to the PD13 police Headquarters were closed, the spokesperson said.
Eyewitnesses said that the gunfire stopped after several minutes. So far, there were no reports of death or injured but authorities feared casualties.
The blast and gun battle in PD13 was followed by one more explosion in Shahr-e-Naw area in Kabul's PD10, according to the sources.
