Belgium: Police intercept speeding car and thwart 'attempted terrorist attack'

Belgian police intercepted a car that was speeding toward a busy shopping area and refused to stop, authorities said Thursday. Authorities eventually managed to stop the 39-year-old French driver and detained him.

"A vehicle with French plates has tried to drive at high speed into the Meir (shopping street). A man in camouflage was taken away," the spokesman told a televised news conference in Antwerp.
