The House of Lords of the British Parliament on Friday approved a bill which will block a no-deal Brexit at the end of October. The approval of the bill will require British PM Boris Johnson to seek a delay to take Britain out of the European Union. The legislation forcing Johnson to delay Britain’s departure is likely to be signed by Queen Elizabeth on Monday. Moreover, 21 lawmakers of the Conservative Party were ousted by Johnson as they were allegedly working with opposition parties to pass the legislation against the UK government.

Dubbing it as ‘Surrender Bill’ Johnson on Thursday had said that he would rather be “dead in a ditch” than delay Britain’s EU exit.

The vote has left Johnson’s Brexit plan in limbo. He is left with no way out after his parliamentary majority was spoiled by a Conservative party rebellion over the issue.

Earlier, MPs in the House of Commons had passed a bill that could stop Johnson taking Britain out of the European Union without a divorce deal with Brussels. The MPs also rejected his call for a snap election to resolve the political deadlock that has characterised the past three years since the 2016 referendum vote for Brexit.
