Christchurch mosque shooting: Over 25 people were killed and scores others sustained serious injuries after gunmen opened fire at two mosques - Linwood Masjid Mosque and Al Noor Mosque – in central Christchurch in New Zealand. One of the shooters, who identified himself as "Brenton Tarrant" - a white, 28-year-old Australian, live streamed the horrific attack inside the Al Noor Mosque for 17 minutes. New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern termed the incident one of the country’s darkest days. Meanwhile, the police have asked all the mosques incident the country to shut their doors and advised people to stay indoors. According to local media reports, one of the gunmen has been arrested by the police while the other was still active.

- All Christchurch schools has been placed into lockdown unitll further notice.
- There were about 200 people in Masjid Al Noor mosque on Deans Ave when the firing began. People had gone their for Friday prayers.
- In Cathedral Square, where students were holding climate protest, a police officer asked them to leave for home immediately.
- The Christchurch Hospital, where a third shooting was reported, is in lockdown. The hospital has cancelled all the appointments and no staff or patients were to enter or leave the building.
- The Bangladesh cricket team were at the mosque for Friday prayers when the shooting started. They, however, escaped unhurt. They were schedulled to play a Test match at Hagley Oval on Saturday but due to the emergency situation, the match has been cancelled.
