The wife of Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, his office said. The announcement came late Saturday, just hours after he announced a near total lockdown nationwide. Both Begona Gomez and her husband were well, and were at their official residence following the new measures introduced by the health authorities, said a government statement.
Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, tested positive for coronavirus. Sophie Trudeau started feeling sick after she returned from a speaking event in London. Sophie, who tested positive for COVID-19, will be in isolation for the time being.
“Following medical recommendations, Sophie Trudeau was tested for COVID-19 today. The test back positive. Also following medical advice, she will remain in isolation for the time being”, Trudeau’s communications director Cameron Ahmad shared on Twitter.
“First I’d like to say a big thank you to all of you who have reached out to me asking how I’m doing,” Sophie Trudeau said in a statement. “Although I’m experiencing uncomfortable symptoms of the virus, I will be back on my feet soon”, she added.
“Sophie recently returned from a speaking event in the UK, and last night she was experiencing mild flu-like symptoms. She‘s feeling better, but following the advice of our doctor she is self-isolating as we wait on COVID-19 test results”, Canadian prime minister earlier wrote on social media.
