Delhi-bound United Airlines Flight Diverted To London After Passenger Becomes Unwell On Board

A Delhi-bound United Airlines flight had to be diverted to London's Heathrow airport on Monday after a passenger fell sick on board. "Our team at London Heathrow Airport is providing assistance to customers of United Flight 82 (New York/Newark - Delhi) today, which diverted to London Heathrow following a customer becoming unwell onboard," read the official statement from United Airlines.

The airlines said that it is making arrangements for the passengers to complete their journeys. It is not clear yet whether the incident is related to the deadly novel coronavirus which has claimed more than 6,000 live across world so far.

According to reports by a local news website in London - mylondon.news, the flight UA82, which took off from Newark Airport at at 9.55pm (ET) was due to land in India at 8.30pm local time. The report added saying that in a post FlightRadar24 wrote: "United flight UA82, Newark - Delhi, is diverting to Heathrow. Reason currently unknown."

The report added that according to other flight tracking Twitter accounts the plane has declared a 'Squawk 7700' which means the crew has decided they have an 'urgency' situation.
