An earthquake with its epicentre in the Afghan mountain range has jolted the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan and was also strongly felt in northern Pakistan.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), earthquake was measured 5.2 on the Richter scale, while the Pakistan’s meteorological department said that it was of 5.9 magnitude.
The quake had a depth of 101 kilometres, the USGS reported.
The impact of the earthquake was so much that it was felt from the tribal regions along the Afghan border in the north to the eastern city of Lahore. However, it was also felt in Punjab province.

No casualties have been reported so far.
Northern Pakistan is on earthquake fault line. In 2005, a major earthquake caused massive damages in northern Pakistan and in the Pakistani part of the disputed Kashmir region, killing thousands of people.
