Greta Thunberg who shook the world with her powerful speech on the alarming climate change at the United Nations Climate Summit may have found a fan in former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. On the teaser for the upcoming Swedish talk show Skavlan, Greta revealed that Arnie offered to lend her his electric car. “One of the funniest offers I’ve received is that Arnold Schwarzenegger has offered me to lend his electric car if I want to”, Greta said according to a translation by Newsweek.
Host Fredrik Skavlan then said it had been confirmed that Greta and her father will take Schwarzenegger’s car to Montreal, Canada, where she is set to attend the protest against climate change on Friday (September 27).
Talking about how Arnie came into the picture, the Terminator star turned politician had been avid fan of Thunberg even before her impassioned speech to the United Nations where she schooled people in power for their inaction in the face of a growing climate crisis on Monday. In 2018, Arnie tweeted about how Thunberg inspired him. Hence when the duo finally met in May 2019 at a climate conference in Austria Schwarzenegger did not hold back from expressing his excitement tweeted that he was ‘starstuck’ on finally meeting the 16-year-old climate activist.
Excited to kick off our @R20_AWS in Vienna. I have to admit I was starstruck when I met @gretathunberg. Tune in tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/b0c5FtmZDq

As for Arnold himself, he partnered with electric mobility company Kreisel to develop an electric Hummer in 2017.
