New Delhi :
Finally the deadlock over the fate of Indian employees seeking H-1B work visas to the United States (US) have come to an end. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has resumed processing the visas from Tuesday.
The fast processing of the H-1B work visas in all categories has been resumed wubject to the limit mandated by Congress, since it was put on hold temporarily since April to deal with the huge rush of applications.
The H-1B work visa is very popular among Indian professionals working in the Information and Technology (IT) sector. Every year technology companies based in the US have to hire foreign workers who are trained both theoretically and practically.
The cap for Financial Year (FY) 2018 has been set at 65,000. Premium processing has also been resumed for the annual 20,000 additional petitions that are set aside to hire workers with a US higher educational degree, it said.
USCIS guarantees a 15-day processing time if a petitioner requests for premium processing services. In case the processing doesn't happen in 15 days time then USCIS refunds the processing fee.
