US hate attack: Indian shot dead at Kansas bar, shooter shouted 'get out of my country'

An Indian engineer was killed and two others injured on Thursday when an American man opened fire on them after allegedly yelling "get out of my country", at a bar In Kansas state of US.

The local police has called it a possible hate crime.

The name of deceased is Srinivas Kunchubhotla who was 32 years old and worked at the Garmin headquarters in Olathe.

Another India Alok Madasani was critically injured during the incident and is battling for life at a local hospital.

One other person identified as Ian Grillot was also injured in the shooting.

The accused, Adam Purinton, 51, was arrested on Thursday morning, five hours after the incident.

"It was a tragic and senseless act of violence," Olathe Police Chief Steven Menke told reporters.

In New Delhi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj expressed shock over the incident and said two Indian Embassy officials have been rushed to Kansas to render all possible assistance.
