Iran's southern Kerman province hit by 5.2 magnitude earthquake

Iran’s southern Kerman province suffered a 5.2 magnitude earthquake on Wednesday, said the country’s semi-official ISNA news agency.

Reports claim that the quake rocked Anar village, located at some 700 kilometers south of Tehran. They further say that the epicenter of the earthquake was 10 kilometers deep. There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage.

Iran is prone to earthquakes as it sits on many major fault lines. In 2003, a 6.6-magnitude quake flattened the historic city of Bam, killing 26,000 people.
