To help the affected in Australia bushfires, billionaire Jeff Bezos announced that he is making a donation of 1 million AU dollars, an approximation of $690,000 for Australian bushfire relief. "Our hearts go out to all Australians as they cope with these devastating bushfires. Amazon is donating 1 million AU dollars in needed provisions and services. Find more about it and learn how customers can help as well," Jeff Bezos wrote on his Instagram post. His donation of 1 million AU dollars against his $116.7 billion net worth was not seen enough by netizens who lashed out at the Amazon founder and owner.
"Are we supposed to be impressed?" asked one netizen on his donation.
This may sound horrible, but $690,000 is a pittance for #JeffBezos. That’s like me putting $2 into the Salvation Army bucket.— Samia Ali Salama (@SamiaAliSalama) January 13, 2020
Cheap billionaire. 🤬
Jeff Bezos is worth ~$116 billion. This is approximately 0.00059% of his fortune. If you had $50,000, this would be the equivalent of donating less than $30. And winning headlines for it https://t.co/IzQlCMMozh— Brian Merchant (@bcmerchant) January 12, 2020
‘’This is the equivalent of a median net worth American donating 63 cents’’ condemned another.
