At least 95 people were killed and around 158 people were injured in a powerful suicide car bomb explosion at Kabul in Afghanistan on Saturday.

Afghanistan Health Ministry confirmed the incident and the deaths.

According to Afghan Police, a bomb hidden in an ambulance was triggered at a police checkpoint near foreign embassies and government buildings.

A member of parliament Mirwais Yasini who was nearby the explosion site told the media that an ambulance approached at the checkpoint, close to an office of the High Peace Council and several foreign embassies, and blew up.

“Soon after the blast several people were lying on the ground in pool of blood,” he added.
