Modi in Japan: PM addresses Indian diaspora in Tokyo, says will grab world's attention on Sardar Patel's birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian diaspora in Japan at the Indian Community Centre in Tokyo on Monday. PM Modi hailed Japan for its contribution towards the global economy and stressed on India’s “massive transformation”. Praising his government, PM Modi said, “The world is appreciating India for its efforts towards services towards humanity. The policies being made in India, the work being done towards public welfare, for these the nation is being felicitated today.” He also said that India will “grab world’s attention” on Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary celebration scheduled to be held on October 31. “Sardar sahab ki pratibha jitni oonchi thi, pratima bhi utni hi oonchi banegi,” he said.

The prime minister also talked about the ‘Make in India’ initiative emerging as a global brand today. PM Modi said that the country is manufacturing quality products for the world and it is soon becoming a “global hub”, rapidly moving towards being No.1 in mobile phones manufacturing.

He also lauded Indian scientists who set a record by launching over 100 satellites into space simultaneously. India is preparing to send Gaganyaan into space by 2022, Modi said.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to meet venture capitalists in Tokyo on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Japan for the 13^th annual Indo-Japan summit. He met his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe for an informal meeting on Sunday at the picturesque Yamanashi. The Japanese prime minister greeted Modi affectionately with a hug and called him “one of his most dependable friends”. Abe said he would like to strengthen bilateral cooperation to realise a free and open Indo-Pacific. Prime Minister Modi was an outstanding leader of his great country, the Japanese premier said. “I have always believed and stated that the relationship between Japan and India is blessed with the largest potential in the world,” he said.
