A gunman who had shot down a Texas Tech University police officer has been taken into custody. The lockdown too has been lifted from the Lubbock campus as a result.

The gunman who killed a Texas Tech University police officer has now been taken in custody, said the Lubbock Police Department. As a result, the lockdown has been lifted from the campus at Lubbock.

Students have been advised to take shelter. Reports claim that the shooter is nearly 6 feet tall, with red hair and blue eyes. Further, it has been reported that he is wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

Campus police were making a student welfare check when they entered the suspect's room and found drugs and drug paraphernalia, as per reports. The suspect, who was brought to the police headquarters for questioning, pulled out a gun and shot the officer in the head.
