Multiple people were injured in a mass shooting at the Pearl Harbour Naval Shipyard in Hawaii on Thursday. According to local media reports, an active shooter was reported at the dry dock area of the shipyard at 2:30 pm (local time). The authorities placed the shipyard under lockdown immediately. The shooter was wearing naval uniform, media reports said. Hawaii News Now said several civilians were among the gunshot victims. One witness said he was at his desk when he heard loud pops. “I kind of recognize that as gunshots,” the witness. “I looked out in time to see the shooter, who I assume was a sailor because he was in uniform ... shoot himself,” Hawaii News Now quoted the witness as saying. The official Twitter handle of the Pearl Harbour just tweeted that the gates have now been thrown open. It is still not clear whether the lockdown has been lifted or not. “Gates and base access are now open. Standby for further information regarding the active shooter incident,” Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam said in the tweet.
