Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who was admitted to a hospital following symptoms of chest infection, was discharged on Friday, officials said.

According to the doctors involved in his treatment, the prime minister will resume office in the next two-three days.

Oli was admitted to the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre (MCVT) at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu on Monday after he complained of chest pain and breathing difficulty.

“Prime Minister Oli has been discharged from the hospital on Friday evening after fully recovering his health condition. His medical test reports are normal,” Dr Uttam Krishna Shrestha, executive director at the hospital, said.

Oli, 76, had undergone transplant surgery of both kidneys in India in 2007. Since then, he has remained under strict medical observation that entails visiting Thailand regularly for medical check-up. The prime minister had also undergone a prostate surgery in India in 2014.
