New Delhi:

In 2016, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyah called 'United Nations a joke' while denying any consideration to its concerns regarding Israeli military action in Palestine.

The statement has been reiterated by realists since the inception of the international organisation.

But, despite lack of teeth, never have ever the organisation been made a mockery at the scale of 2017 before.

Fake news, selfies during the speech on genocide and even inventing fake countries - weird touched new heights at the ongoing 72nd United Nations General Assembly session.

Check out the embarrassing moments of UNGA 2017:

The gaffes kicked off with the king of goof ups, President Donald Trump as he lavished praise on the health care system of Nambia during a speech at the United Nations. But there's one little problem -- there's no such country.

"In Guinea and Nigeria, you fought a horrifying Ebola outbreak," Trump told African leaders gathered Wednesday. "Nambia's health system is increasingly self-sufficient."

Trump mentioned Nambia twice during the session attended by leaders of several nations, including Ghana, Namibia and Uganda.

The gaffe lit up social media, with many speculating whether he meant Namibia, Zambia or Gambia.

The White House later clarified that Trump was talking about the southwestern African nation of Namibia.

Trump's fake country was, however, was not as damaging as Pakistan's fake photo.

Pakistan's Permanent Representative to UN Maleeha Lodhi committed one of the biggest mistakes of her career when she waved around photos of a plaestinian girl as a proof of India's attrocities in Kashmir.

The mistake was soon called out by India and Lodhi faced serious backlash from in and out of her home country.

"Did the so called learned Maleeha Lodhi actually weaken the Kashmir cause by using a fake picture in UNGA? She should be fired. NOW." - A Pakistani citizen tweeted.

"Maleeha Lodhi messed up her strong rebuttal by showing pic from Gaza instead of IoK. Why can't our diplomats do their homework?," another asked on Twitter.

The embarrassment of the Pak envoy hover was no where as intense as what Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev must have faced when he found out that his daughter was clicking selfies while he addressed the UNGA on genocide in his country.

As he spoke about genocide at the world platform, his 33-year-old daughter was caught giggling and taking animated selfies during the speech.

Seated next to her mother and Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, Leyla Aliyeva was seen keenly watching her father's speech and recording it on her phone at first but a few minutes into the speech, she turned the phone and made a 'shocked' face for the camera, possibly reacting to what her father was saying about the conflict.

The embarrassing moment was caught on the United Nations live stream which is beamed across the world.
