Vice Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi has been appointed as new Pakistan Chief of Naval Staff and has been elevated to the rank of Admiral.
He will assume charge of the office after the retirement of current Navy Chief Admiral Zaka-ullah on October 6.
President Mamnoon Hussain approved the appointment of Abbasion the advice of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, as per the statement by the Prime Minister's House.

In Pakistan, all services chiefs are appointed by the president at the recommendation of the prime minister who has final say in such appointments.
