Pakistan Army Chief in Sri Lanka, to discuss matters of professional interests with counterpart

New Delhi:

A day after Indian Army killed seven Pakistani soldiers in retaliatory action along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Pakistan Army chief has undertaken a visit to the South Asian island neighbour Sri Lanka.

Bajwa, on a three-day visit, would be meeting the country's top leadership and is expected to sign several agreements to boost military-to-military relations between the two countries.

Bajwa landed in capital Colombo on Monday at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake.

The Pakistan High Commission in Colombo said that during his Sri Lanka visit General Bajwa will hold discussions on matters of professional interests with General Mahesh Senanayake.

He is also expected to pay courtesy calls on President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, State Minister of Defence, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, and Commanders of the Navy and Air Force.
