Pakistan Army Ready To Tackle Misadventures By India, Says Imran Khan

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan

Amidst heightened tensions with India, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that his country is fully prepared to tackle any misadventure by India. "The whole world should have stood with Kashmir. But today I have to say, with sadness, that when there is injustice against Muslims, then the international community, and those institutions like the UN that are to provide justice, remain silent," Khan said while addressing a gathering.

“Our army is ready that if there are any misadventures by India. But the world should know that when two countries with nuclear weapons are facing each other like this, it will not just harm the region, it will harm the world,” he said.

Earlier, India had strongly condemned recent statements by some Pakistani leadership on Kashmir and other issues. It said that these statements there are irresponsible statements on matters internal to India.

Pakistan successfully test-fired the launch of a surface-to-surface ballistic missile dubbed as Ghaznavi on Wednesday late night.

In a tweet, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor on Thursday said, “Pakistan successfully carried out night training launch of surface to surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi.” “The missile is capable of delivering multiple types of warheads up to 290 kilometres,” he added.

According to Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, Pakistani President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan conveyed appreciation to the team and congratulations to the nation for the successful testing of the missile.

The development comes at least three months after Pakistan conducted a successful training launch of Shaheen-II, a surface-to-surface ballistic missile. Back in January this year, Pakistan conducted successful launch of the tactical ballistic missile Nasr as part of the Army Strategic Forces Command training exercise.

Tensions are high in Kashmir after New Delhi on August 5 announced abrogation of provisions of Article 370 and decided to bifurcate the state into Union territories - Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh - hours after Kashmir was placed under a total clampdown.
