Pakistan foreign minister says Hafiz Saed not in list of 75 terrorists handed over by US

New Delhi:

A day after United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visited Pakistan, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif claimed that Mumbai attack mastermind and Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed’s name not on the list of 75 terrorists handed over to the country.

Saed carried a $ 10 million bounty on his head for his role in terror activities and has been under house arrest in Pakistan since January this year.

Asif during Pakistan parliament’s upper house informed the senators during a session of the parliament’s upper house that the US has “handed over a list of 75 terrorists while we gave them a list of 100 terrorists.”

Saed, a Pakistani citizen, was listed as a foreign organisation by the US in 2014. His organisation JuD is the front of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit which is responsible for numerous terror attacks in India, including the Mumbai terror strike of 2008.

He also said that the the list was handed over to him by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to Pakistan during his maiden visit.

Asif during the sessions aid, “None of the terrorists are Pakistanis. Haqqani network is on the top of the US terror list.”

Asif also said, “We are not supporting Afghan Taliban nor do they need our help,” said Asif.

He added, “Somebody else is sponsoring them now.”

The Pakistan foreign minister also said that the many of the key Taliban names are now now shadow governors in Afghanistan or dead.

Asif also informed the house than Pakistan wanted to expand relationships with the US on basis of self-respect and equality.
