Pakistan test fires short-range Nasr missile, COAS says launch puts 'cold water' on India's 'cold start' doctrine

Pakistan on Wednesday successfully test-fired short-range surface-to-surface ballistic missile 'Nasr'in presence of its Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Hailing the training launch, Pak Army Chief hits on India and said the launch of "Nasr Puts 'cold water' on India's 'cold start'doctrine. Cold Start is a military doctrine developed by the Indian Armed Forces for use in a likely war with Pakistan.

"Pakistan has successfully undertaken a series of training launches and tests and trials during the current week for validation of new technical parameters of 'Nasr' with enhanced range from 60 km to 70 km and flight maneuverability," the military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a tweet announcing the successful launch of the missile.

He said Pakistan will go to any length to ensure regional peace and stability. He also supported government's efforts for peace through talks.

"We wholeheartedly support all government efforts at peace through dialogue. Our capability is only meant to ensure ; no one thinks war remains an option," another tweet said.

President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and services chiefs congratulated the scientists and the nation over successful launch of the missile.
