Despite US President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris climate deal, business and government leaders will go ahead with it. Trump’s administration had withdrawn itself from the agreement on June 1.
13 states including New York and California represent approximately 40 per cent of the US economy have signed pledges to reduce their fossil-fuel emissions. Around 200 cities’ mayors and leaders of business giants including Apple and Amazon have also taken pledges despite Trump’s announcement that he would withdraw the US from Paris climate deal.
President Trump on June 1 announced his decision to withdraw the US from the Paris Agreement on climate change and renegotiate the deal that was agreed upon by over 190 countries during the previous Obama administration.
Terming it as unfair for the United States, Trump said that it will badly hit its business & jobs and benefit countries like China and India.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that Trump’s statement withdrawing from the Paris climate deal sent the message that America’s own concerns were paramount and was a “shock” for India and the world community.
