People from all over the world celebrated International Women’s day on March 8 and participated in the celebration of womanhood. For the first time ever, women in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah took to streets to exercise their new right to jog on Thursday.
The women in Saudi Arabia were earlier restricted from jogging in the public and hence they exercised the new-found freedom to mark Women’s Day in the country.
Bliss Runners which is a prominent women’s running club in the country organised an event for the ladies where they jogged around Jeddah’s historic district.
Donning sports-friendly hijabs, they proudly celebrated the new progress under women’s rights in Saudi Arabia. Bliss Runners shared the glimpses from the historic event on Instagram.

Saudi women had quite an eventful year under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as several restrictions on their rights were lifted. Women in the country now have the privilege to attend football matches and also partake in sports themselves.
Earlier this month, the kingdom country organised its very first women’s marathon in which over 1500 women participated with full enthusiasm.
