A suspicious package, similar to the mail bombs sent to the Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama’s residence, has been found at a New York restaurant owned by Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, the New York Police Department (NYPD) said on Thursday.
The suspicious package was sent to Robert De Niro at his restaurant in the vicinity of Greenwich and Franklin streets in Tribeca, Manhattan.
“We are responding to reports of a suspicious package in the vicinity of Greenwich and Franklin streets in Tribeca, Manhattan. Please avoid the area and expect a police presence and heavy traffic,” the NYPD wrote on Twitter.

Teams of FBI, special New York Police and NYPD reached the spot and removed the package from the location. However, they advised people to avoid the area, saying the investigation was underway.
NYPD Commissioner James P O'Neill said the highly-trained experts were investigating the matter and the suspect package was being taken to a secure facility in the Bronx.
“The most highly-trained experts in the world are investigating today’s suspicious package in #TriBeCa — & the item is now en route to a secure facility in the #Bronx. Together with our partners @NewYorkFBI, @ATFNewYork, @nyspolice & more, @NYPDCT WILL find whoever is responsible,” O'Neill tweeted.

On Wednesday, the United States Secret Service had intercepted two "suspicious packages" addressed to former President Barack Obama and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. The similar mail bomb was also sent to the CNN headquarters in Manhattan.
