Tarek Fatah is a well-known writer, broadcaster and liberal activist based out of Canada. Fatah was born in Karachi, Pakistan and had his formative education in Pakistan. Fatah forayed into the journalism space as a reporter for the Karachi Sun in 1970. He had a brief stint with a Pakistani media house before leaving for Saudi Arabia. He has eventually settled down in Canada.
Fatah is the founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress and served as its communications officer and spokesperson. Fatah advocates gay rights, a separation of religion and state, opposition to sharia law, and advocacy for a "liberal, progressive form" of Islam
Fateh is a well-rounded personality and takes dons many hats as a writer, broadcaster, secularist and liberal activist. He has been banned for making public views and holding gatherings in Pakistan.
As an author, Fatah has created a mark for himself in the literary field. His books Chasing a Mirage- The Tragic Illusion of an Islamic State and The Jew Is Not My Enemy: Unveiling the Myths that Fuel Muslim Anti-Semitism, have both been conferred with international awards and critical acclaim.
Fatah has been an eminent media personality and is known to give his strong opinion on critical issues like cross border terrorism, radical islam and gay rights that engulf the world.
Fatah in recent times has appeared on leading Indian media channels and voiced his concerns over Pakistan’s atrocities in Baluchistan and lambasted them for sponsoring terrorism in Afghanistan and India.
