The rising tensions between India and Pakistan are being watched very closely by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. He has also reiterated the need for the South Asian neighbours to find a peaceful solution through engagement and dialogue.

The Secretary General is not reluctant to focus on the issue, Guterres’ spokesperson Stephane Dujarric asserted while responding to a question at the daily press conference on Tuesday.

“I don’t think it’s a matter of reluctance. As I said, he’s obviously watching the situation very closely and reiterates his need for the parties to find a peaceful solution through engagement and dialogue,” Dujarric added.

Guterres is following the situation in Kashmir amid escalating tensions at the border between India and Pakistan, Dujarric has repeatedly said.
